Man City Sign Brazilian Star Savinho
Manchester City have secured the signing of Brazilian winger Savinho from Troyes on a five-year contract until 2029, in a deal worth €40 million.
The 20-year-old – who is privately known as Sávio de Oliveira but uses the mononym Savinho – arrived on Thursday, 18 July, as City’s first mid-year signing ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Oliveira, who impressed on loan at Girona last season, played a crucial role in helping the Spanish side finish third in La Liga and qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time. He scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists, earning his first call-up to Brazil’s senior team in March, where he debuted against England and scored in the Copa America.
The promising player began his career at Atletico Mineiro, making his debut at 16. Known for his dribbling and creativity, he can play on either wing or in a more central attacking role.
Expressing his excitement about joining the Citizens in a statement shared via their official website, Oliveira praised the club as the best in the world and expressed eagerness to work under manager Pep Guardiola.
Man City Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, highlighted Oliveira’s potential and technical skills, seeing him as a significant addition to the team’s attacking options.
